In Kompong Cham's entrance, a temple of the 11th century, inside which a pagoda was built recently by using the old sculptures of the temple. It is surrounded with a multitude of small sanctuaries and near to an important monastery.

The first long building of Nokor Bachey Temple of Kampong Cham is 421 meters and 371 meters in dimension made of laterite stones. The height is of 9 meters and the length is 2.4 meters. Most part of this building has been destroyed over time. Inside this building you will find structures like Six Lions, Eight Dragons and Two Devils. The second long building is also a beautiful architectural structure that includes two statues of Te Cho Dam Din, two devils each of1.6-metre in height and two ponds.
One of the many legends about the town's history explains that a fish swallowed a Cambodian boy whose father was bathing him in the river. The fish swam to China where fishermen caught him and sliced him open, revealing a live child. The emperor raised the boy as his own. Years later, the prince returned with ships full of Chinese sailors to populate the land that became known as Kompong Cham.
I enjoyed Wat Hanchey, it's very different and unusual. Basically kampong Cham is a small town, there's not lots to do or see but if you want a more Khmer experience than some of the more tourists places it's a good place to go.
